Recycling Tools design — a stylised set of our de-nailing tools sprouting leaves. It signifies how recycling timber saves trees from being cut down and lets new ones grow.
Carved Log design is inspired by the rings inside a tree trunk. Each ring marks a year of growth, and this tree has 30 — one for every year.

GREENWOOD CHAIR

A strong, elegant, lightweight chair - handmade by Tharwa local Jan Saltet using a combination of green (unseasoned) and dry recycled timber for joints that will never loosen. The chairs in the photos with the darker finish have been in our office for 10 years, and they look better and better with time!

LILYPAD STOOL - NEW PRODUCT

The Lilypad stool brings together a precisely wood-turned recycled timber frame, with a smooth, carved seat. This unique handcrafted stool is built for Thor’s Hammer in our recycled timbers by local Canberra craftsman Rolf Barfoed. The stool design is characterised by a signature contoured timber seat and through-tenon joinery.
We have 13 stools in stock, seven in Bluegum / Coastal Reds and six in Canberra Local Ash & Elm.
Lilypad Stools can also be custom made in a wide range of our recycled timber species. The typical lead time is 10 weeks. You can choose to have the stool frame and seat in the same species or mix and match to suit your interior style.

SKYLARK HANGBOARD

Made in close consultation with the Canberra climbing community, the Skylark Hangboard is the ultimate training board, with everything from jugs to slopers, pockets, monos and crimps — all made in recycled timber. All holds are generously sized to suit large and small hands. The in-cut shaping and sloped face give inspiration for those gnarly overhangs and steep climbs.

BOX OF BRIQUETTES

Our briquettes are made from recycled hardwood sawdust, collected by dust extraction from all the machines in our workshop and compressed using an RUF Briquetting Press from Germany. They burn efficiently in home wood stoves and can be used for outdoor campfires too! Briquette Boxes include 12 briquettes per box—a great option for camping, or if you want to test out the briquette before ordering a half or full pallet.

SOMETHING to GATHER AROUND…
BALANCE TABLE

Offset legs give this low table balance and poise, while the through dovetails add contrast by exposing the end grain of the legs. The Balance Table is a striking coffee table, perfect for larger spaces, normally there is a 8-12 week lead time but we’ve got three ready to go and all are on display in our showroom.

OBLONG TABLE

The Oblong table is a compact, elegant dining table ideal for smaller dining rooms, apartments, or open-plan living spaces where thoughtful design and durability are key.
We currently have three Oblong tables available - one Oblong table in Canberra Local Ash, one Oblong table in Blackbutt and another Oblong table in Brushbox (All tables 1800 x 1000 x 730mm high). All are on display in our showroom and can be delivered before Christmas.

SPROUT COAT STAND

A collaborative creation between SKEEHAN Studio and Thor's Hammer, Sprout is a freestanding coat stand with an arboreal inspiration. Seamless lap joints emphasise the elegant interplay of grain direction with sprout-like coat holders effortlessly nestling into the uprights — a fusion of modern design and fine joinery.

DRY VASE

The Dry Vase is perfect for displaying arrangements of dry native flowers, grasses and twigs. Thor originally designed this vase for an exhibition inspired by Enrico Taglietti's architecture. The half lapped mitre joint refers to a recurring form in Enrico's work.

GREEN WOOD PLANT STAND

The natural hand shaped timbers of the Green Wood Plant Stand are a perfect complement for indoor plants, and the tripodal design makes it a stable and sturdy support. Made by master bodger Jan Saltet at his Tharwa workshop, using minimal materials with minimal fuss. Jan also makes our Green Wood Dining Chairs.

CLOVER CHEESEBOARD & KNIFE SET

Designed to complement a set of three cheese knives made by local metalsmiths Ferro Forma, the three leaves of the Clover Cheeseboard can be separated to easily pass around the table, or kept together for a stunning centrepiece. The sculpted curves mirror the playfully folded metal of the Ferro Forma knives.

MAHLZEIT PLATTER

Communal platters for celebrating life’s special occasions with friends and family – extra long for extravagant cheese, fruit and nut arrangements. Similar to a table runner or charcuterie board. Mahlzeit is the Austro-Germanic greeting used around meal times to convey anticipation for and enjoyment of the meal ahead.

B&T BOARDS & PLANKS

Our B&T Boards are a design collaboration between Brian Tunks from Bisonhome & our founder and owner, Thor Diesendorf. Ideal for serving your favourite cheese or slicing fresh bread, they’re available in either the shorter breadboard option, or in its longer iteration, the Plank, in recycled Mixed Ash and Blackbutt. Finished with food safe grapeseed oil.
