Clad Door

The Clad Door is a slimline version of our popular Insulated Clad Door, designed for projects that require a standard door thickness while still delivering the beauty and durability of recycled Australian hardwood. At first glance, the Clad Door has the same clean, contemporary appearance as our Insulated Clad Door, with full-length timber boards running from top to bottom and no visible rails interrupting the design. The difference lies within the construction.

Where our Insulated Clad Door is built with internal cross rails and mortise and tenon construction, and typically measures around 60mm thick, the Clad Door uses an ultra-stable Tricoya core, allowing the door to be manufactured at a standard thickness of 35–40mm. This slimmer profile makes it ideal for standard timber and aluminium door frames, cavity sliders and internal applications where a thicker door may not be practical. The maximum size of our Clad Door is 2450 x 1400mm.

Built for Stability and Durability

At the heart of the Clad Door is a Tricoya panel core. Tricoya is an advanced engineered wood product manufactured using an acetylation process that dramatically improves dimensional stability and moisture resistance. Unlike conventional MDF products, Tricoya is specifically designed to withstand exposure to moisture without swelling, warping or deteriorating.

This stability allows the Clad Door to be used in both internal and external applications while maintaining the natural appearance of a solid timber door.

The door also features full solid timber stiles along both vertical edges, providing a strong fixing point for hinges, locks and hardware while increasing durability in high-use areas. The Tricoya core is completely concealed, ensuring that all visible surfaces retain the warmth and character of recycled Australian hardwood.

A Clean, Contemporary Door Design

The Clad Door is characterised by uninterrupted vertical timber boards that create a simple, architectural appearance suited to both contemporary and traditional homes. The concealed internal construction provides the strength required for everyday use while maintaining the clean lines that make this design so popular.

Available in a range of recycled Australian hardwood species, finishes and custom sizes, the Clad Door can be tailored to suit new homes, renovations and commercial projects alike.

Clad Door vs Insulated Clad Door

The Clad Door is often the preferred choice when:

  • A standard door thickness is required.

  • The door needs to fit within an existing jamb or frame.

  • The project includes cavity sliders or internal doors.

  • Thermal insulation is not the primary performance requirement.

  • A more cost-effective alternative to the Insulated Clad Door is desired.

For projects where thermal performance, acoustic insulation or oversized door dimensions are important, our Insulated Clad Door may be the better option.
