Bluegum / Coastal Reds Kitchen Benchtops in Curtin

June 2026

It's easy to see why Julie was drawn to darker timber for her kitchen benchtops.

Bluegum / Coastal Reds recycled timber benchtops

Against the soft green tiles and white cabinetry, the recycled Bluegum / Coastal Reds becomes a stand-out feature of the room. Rich in colour and natural character, the timber adds warmth, depth and a sense of permanence to this thoughtfully renovated kitchen.

We love seeing kitchen benchtops in Bluegum / Coastal Reds, and Julie's kitchen renovation in Curtin is a fantastic example of how these recycled hardwoods can transform a space. The vibrant colours of the timber complement the other kitchen elements beautifully, creating a kitchen that feels both contemporary and welcoming.

Crafted to Fit the Space

The benchtops were clean dressed in Bluegum / Coastal Reds to a thickness of 27mm and finished in Osmo Polyx Oil Satin. The benchtops were supplied in four sections, all 550mm wide and manufactured to suit the exact dimensions of the kitchen.

The rich red and burgundy tones of the recycled hardwoods provide a striking contrast to the white cabinetry, while complementing the textured green splashback tiles and blue patterned flooring.

Installation by Thor's Hammer

The benchtops were installed by Thor's Hammer.

We can provide an estimate to install your recycled timber benchtops, or we can supply everything required for your builder or tradesperson to complete the installation. If we're not installing, we'll provide all necessary installation components, including braces and mitre joints, so your builder can hit the ground running.

That said, with more than 30 years of timber benchtop installation experience, many clients choose to have Thor's Hammer handle the entire process.

If we are installing, we'll arrange a site visit to confirm exact dimensions before manufacturing begins. Alternatively, your builder can provide measurements if they are undertaking the installation themselves. When Thor's Hammer is responsible for installation, we always conduct a final site measure to ensure a perfect fit.

A Clear Design Vision

Julie was looking for a darker timber that would complement the green textured splashback tiles, patterned floor tiles and existing timber features throughout the home.

Bluegum / Coastal Reds proved to be the perfect fit, introducing warmth and richness without competing with the other materials in the space. Julie had a clear vision for the renovation and knew exactly how she wanted the finished kitchen to feel.

Whether you're still exploring ideas or have every detail mapped out, we're happy to help. We can act as a sounding board during the design process, or simply bring your vision to life with custom-made recycled timber benchtops.

From NSW Homes to a New Kitchen

Our Bluegum / Coastal Reds timbers are salvaged from homes and demolition projects throughout New South Wales.

The recycled timber is predominantly Sydney Blue Gum, alongside other coastal red hardwood species of similar colour and density, including Southern Mahogany, Red Mahogany and Rose Gum. These trees originally grew in the coastal forests of New South Wales and, after serving their first life in buildings and homes, are given a second life as beautiful benchtops, furniture, flooring and internal cladding.

The result is a kitchen benchtop with a story behind it—one that combines craftsmanship and the unique character that only recycled timber can provide.
