This bed is simple and functional. The beauty of our recycled timbers is showcased in the wide rails and bedhead. The bed is completely rock solid when assembled, but will knock down for transport.

The secret is our own custom hardware.

The Bed Bed uses our custom designed steel plate to make a rock solid knockdown joint. The plate was inspired by the hardware used for connecting structural post and beams in modern European building systems. The screws that mount the plate to the leg are all countersunk on an angle so that they must be driven skewed into the timber. This stops the plate ever working loose. We've tested - with a 3 foot pinch bar! The plate is combined with a short mortise and tenon which makes the rail easy to locate and prevents twisting. The joint is easily assembled with just a 13mm spanner.

This design looks great pared with our matching Bed Bed Side tables (pictured below)

You can also choose a version of the bed without the headboard, concealed stub tenon joins are used where the rails meet the head and foot combined with our high strength custom hardware for easy disassembly. The base is made with recycled hardwood slats (which are generally made from our decking offcuts, a great way to reuse our recycled timber offcuts).

Note: Video is outdated, we’ve changed the design for the mattress support to recycled timber slats. This allows for greater air flow, the base is stronger than ply and we can use our decking timber offcuts to create the slats. This makes the bed easier to transport too.
