Floors Salvaged From Canberra to Armidale – Current Stock Highlights

We have new salvaged flooring arriving in our yard every few weeks, and we’re always processing something new (well, old… but new for us!).
Even just since Christmas, we’ve salvaged brushbox from the backstage areas at Llewelyn Hall and tallowwood and brushbox from the University of New England Geology Department buildings, plus a bunch of other smaller salvage jobs.
It can get a bit tricky to keep track of all this great flooring, so we thought we’d share all our best salvaged flooring options available at the moment (as of February 20, 2024) in one article. Check it out.
#1 — Mystery heritage floor
We recently pulled up a huge quantity of high quality mountain ash flooring from the refit of a beautiful old heritage building in Canberra. We’ve got plenty of stock, and it’s in great condition. The institution that owns the building still haven’t agreed to let us use their name online, hence the mystery!

#2 — Narrow Width, Thick Brushbox Flooring from Llewellyn Hall, ANU School of Music
An extra heavy duty and thick brushbox floor was originally laid in the backstage areas of Llewellyn Hall, but years of moving grand pianos across it damaged sections in the main thoroughfares and the floor had to be replaced.
After we docked out damaged sections and cleaned the tongue and groove, we have 124 sqm of high quality, musically infused floor boards available. The boards are 58mm wide and 24mm thick and are a beautiful brushbox with the richer red-brown tones of the old growth timber.

We also have structural timbers from this same demolition, as well as some other small batches of flooring - Ironbark 3.8sqm, Coastal Reds 12.5sqm, Blackbutt 1.8sqm and Cypress 2.2sqm. All 78-87mm wide and 17-21mm thick.

#4 — Unique End Grain Parquetry Flooring in Jarrah Kingston Printworks (Now Megalo Print Studio)
There aren’t many floors around like this one! This jarrah end grain block parquetry flooring was salvaged from the 1920s Kingston Printworks before it became the Megalo Print Studio.
We have 3 pallets left of the 41 x 55mm jarrah blocks. Each pallet contains approx 15.5 SQM so 46.5 sqm in total. $180 per sqm.

#5 — Rock Maple Gym Flooring with Unique Markings from Chevalier College in Bowral
We’ve salvaged 900 sqm of this stunning blonde rock maple flooring from the gym floor of Chevalier College in Bowral. We now have just two packs remaining; one is 55.2 sqm and one is 57.2 sqm (112.4sqm in total).

#6 — Brushbox Gym Flooring (also with Colourful Floor Markings) from Hornsby PCYC
If you want those funky gym floor markings but want a darker colour than the rock maple, try this brushbox flooring from Hornsby PCYC gym floor. We have had this flooring for a while, so we only have one pack remaining.

There are so many creative ways that one can use salvaged flooring! We’ve seen customers use our salvaged flooring for anything for floors, feature wall cladding and even ceiling lining. It’s being used in all kinds of buildings, from tiny houses and shipping containers, to artist and musician studios, campervan fit-outs and wine cellars.
