GROOMED BARBERSHOP

Groomed Barber Shop was located on Lonsdale St Braddon, sadly they’ve recently closed, but their western saloon style looked great, their straight blade shaves were incredible, and the timber in their fit out had a cool story!

Thor’s Hammer supplied recycled Ash and Blackbutt wall cladding sawn from the roof timbers of old Sydney houses, some of which are over 100 years old. The rustic floor boards were salvaged from an old factory in Meadowbank and installed in a herringbone pattern by the guys at Created Joinery who did a fantastic job with the fit out installation.

When developers demolish vast swathes of classic buildings to make way for new apartments and office blocks, often really good timber ends up in landfill. Back in the 90’s Thor noticed a lot of good timber going to waste and started salvaging it and making furniture, Thor’s Hammer was born!

You can read more on our recycling process here, it takes a bit of work but the end result and environmental benefit is worth it.
