Architect - Wombey Architects Pty Ltd

Builder - Remedy Building Services

Floor Layers - Flawless Floors

The Varkavisser’s not only wanted their new home to be as energy & water sufficient as possible, and use all recycled timber - they also decided to build the entire home without plastic. This required a few tricky situations like the use of all copper pipes for the plumbing, and a new underfloor insulation system with vermin proof mesh, 3 layers of earth wool and OSB board.

The house has more than enough solar, and continually feeds back into the grid with a thermal rating of 5, has a big underground concrete tank for water storage and has reached the intended self sufficiency they were hoping for.

The Varkavisser’s complimented Ben from Remedy Building and Russel from Wombley Architects on how well they worked together, enjoying problem solving all the hurdles along the way. Also Sean and his team from Flawless Floors who laid the recycled Blackbutt flooring - who were obviously very passionate about their craft!
