The Cyclery in Braddon have just finished their awesome new fit out with heaps of recycled timber, they have bikes too!
Last year we scored a megaload of timber from the Q Stores Woolstores in Alexandria including a bunch of short posts that were used as stumps to hold up the floors of the old woolstores. You can see a pic of the demolition and the stumps arriving at our workshop.
We picked through a semi trailer load of these little stumps sending the busted up ones to firewood. The good ones we cleaned up and used in The Cyclery fitout.
All up, we supplied around 12 ton of the old stumps from the Q Stores, they are Blackbutt 710mm long by 200x200mm section.
We hit all of the outside faces of the timber with a wire brush to take off the loose splinters and dirt, keeping them looking recycled and rustic. Then we dressed the inside faces of the timbers so they stack together well.
The displays and massive sales counter all bolt together, kind of like Ikea on steroids!
Trevor and Janie at The Cyclery have used some really cool details through the whole fit out like making their clothes racks out of water pipe. We think what they have done really compliments the old building and the whole thing looks great!
We also have some of the big posts left from the Q Stores, which are the same section size and Blackbutt timber as the smaller stumps, but available in lengths up to 6.5m!
Interior Design by Capezio and Copeland. Timber by Thor’s Hammer. The guys at The Cyclery have done a lot of the install themselves, legends!
The photos here are pretty cool because you can see the craziness at the demolition where we salvaged the timber, right through to the processing and final product installed at the shop.
