Well, we have been quite busy negotiating with the government during the last while. Three weeks ago we met with representatives of the new Suburban Land Agency and the developer who will be taking over the Yarralumla Brickworks. The main topic was our urgent need for an extension to our lease.
We were pleased to be able to explain the challenges ahead of us, face-to-face.
The options we put on the table are:
• A nine month extension, which will give us time for some great options for permanent relocation. This option will allow us to move to one of the sites we have been negotiating with, and get stuck into building workshops.
• A three month extension, which will only give us enough time to relocate to a temporary site (if we can secure one).
• Or something between the two.
While some positives emerged from the meeting, there was no resolution. The negotiations continue with more letters being exchanged. In the meantime, we are working on the verbal indications we were given, that we will be here at the Brickworks at least into January 2018.
So until then it’s business as usual at Thor’s Hammer. We’re still taking orders and delivering beautiful work to happy customers. It’s what we love doing most. Call us any time to discuss your ideas or needs.
Hopefully I’ll be back to you soon with some good news. And thanks for your continued support. It means a lot to everyone at Thor’s Hammer.
