Thor’s Hammer has developed a new recycled timber floorboard product!
Our new ‘saw tooth’ flooring retains the patina of the demolition timber it was made from. It is hard wearing and durable, easy to install and the finish can be customised to the client’s specification!
The timbers we are using are all Australian hardwood structural roof timbers, salvaged from house demolitions, mainly in Sydney.
The roof timbers arrive at Thor’s Hammer full of nails. We carefully sort and select the highest quality timbers, remove all the metal and then pass the salvaged timbers through our massive band saw to size the timbers ready for dressing.
When we dress the timbers and machine a new tongue and groove we are careful to leave the old rustic outer face of the sawn timber. During installation it can be lightly or heavily sanded back depending on the look the client requires.
If a more rustic look is desired, a light sand will leave the board with more character and patina. If a cleaner more finished look is specified then a heavier sand will provide this. The more rustic surface may require a light fill after sanding with our Super Sap plant based resin to stabilise any splinters and provide a smooth surface.
The freshly machined profiles fit together like a new board making installation faster and more cost effective with no gaps in the joints.
Thor's Hammer developed the saw tooth floor boards because of the popularity of our saw tooth cladding which has been a favourite for feature walls.
Saw tooth floor boards offer the same patina and character as an old salvaged floor board with the ease of installation of new hardwood flooring and they keep these amazing salvaged roof timbers out of landfill and under your feet!
