Our last day for 2014 is Monday 22 December and we come back on Tuesday 6th Jan 2015.
2014 has been a great year for us at Thor’s Hammer, we have completed our biggest year ever of commercial fit outs and had a fantastic time installing recycled timber for: Bentspoke Brewing, Hopscotch Braddon, Mezzalira, King O’Malley’s The Cyclery, Eye Candy Optical, Pialligo Estate Winery and the newly opened Akiba on Bunda St, Canberra City.
We held our first ever furniture exhibition in November 2014 featuring some of our new table designs, also the ‘Polyedrica’ chair designed by architect Enrico Taglietti and produced by Thor’s Hammer, and collaborative works with Geoff Farquhar-Still using Elm Slabs salvaged from Glebe park trees and stainless steel.
The joinery has made lots of recycled timber furniture for domestic clients including tables, kitchen bench tops, TV units, book shelves mirrors, picture frames and even the front door to a few people’s houses!
2015 has lots of exciting projects coming up!
In addition to making furniture, bench tops and supplying recycled timber to our customers:
We will be building a larger showroom and office space at the brickworks, this will allow us to showcase our full range of recycled timber products in one space.
New demolitions are scheduled, stay tuned for updates on new and interesting timbers becoming available in 2015.
Upgrades are being made to our workshop to accommodate a couple more joinery staff and we are building a larger drying room for finishing our furniture, especially handy in the cold winter!
We are putting a proposal forward to the ACT Government to develop the historic Brickworks site into a hub for Canberra artisans and designers, a move we hope maintains the heritage values of the site we have been working from for the last 20 years.
We thank you for supporting us in 2014 and choosing recycled timber, we are looking forward to working with you in 2015, have a fantastic Christmas! xxo
